The restoration of the reliquary bust of Saint-François de Paule is an opportunity for us to present not only the work carried out on the latter but also the profession of restorer of gilded and polychrome woods itself in intimate connection with the work of gilder ornamentalist .
Thus, we will first focus on presenting the main stages of the gilding work of the leaf (techniques and products) with its specific challenges, then in a second step, we will reveal the different moments of the restoration of the reliquary bust, from the order to the final delivery, including the questions that inevitably raise this type of artefact: a cultural, religious and heritage object.
